CARBONDALE — The state's firefighters union has again endorsed the
campaign of U.S. Rep. Chris Carney, D-Dimock Twp.Mr. Carney, who faces Republican Chris Hackett in the 10th
Congressional District, was endorsed by the Pennsylvania Professional
Fire Fighters Association in his 2006 campaign. Mr. Carney's campaign
called the endorsement a sign of his bipartisan nature, while his

FACTORYVILLE – With shotguns blasting in the background, the
Factoryville Sportsmen's Club was an unlikely site for a political
rally, particularly when almost everyone there sported a hunting vest
and a bright orange hat.The slogan on the hats – Sportsmen for Carney – indicated the event's

The number of registered Republicans in the 10th Congressional District has dropped below the 50-percent mark for the first time in decades.The shift, reflected in the latest registration totals for the district, is significant since the district was redrawn in 2000 to heavily favor Republicans who have held the seat for 54 of the last 58 years.
